Worker is one of the three divisions of labor for townsfolk. Each turn, a citizen assigned to be a Worker generates the following base production within the Town:
- The empire's Tax Rate in
- Racial Power (if applicable)
All mortal races in Master of Magic have a common-folk caste engaged solely in labor. According to their racial inclination and the availability of resources, these Workers cut wood, mine, and engage in construction and manufacturing. The work is extremely demanding; Workers are scarcely able to defend themselves or pursue other productive interests. Towns, and indeed the entire feudal network of Arcanus and Myrror, aim to provide the framework of order and safety needed to secure the relationships between Farmers, Workers, armies, and the ruling class.
Assigning Workers Edit
All Townsfolk in Master of Magic are divided into three categories: Rebels, Subsistence Farmers, and surplus. Citizens in the third category may be allocated between Farmers and Workers in whatever ratio the Wizard desires; there are no other possible sources of Workers.
Note that, unlike Food, excess production cannot be transferred elsewhere in your empire; if you have a Town you don't have much use for, it's often better to set it mostly to Farmers, permitting you to allocate more Workers in your important Towns, though if you need gold, Workers producing Trade Goods are more efficient than Farmers producing surplus food.
Worker Productivity Edit
The following things strongly influence Workers productivity:
Racial Limitations and Building Effects Edit
While a basic worker produces 2 and equal to the Tax Rate, a number of races have slightly different capabilities, plus different races have different buildings available. The following chart shows total base and total potential for Workers of each race, taking into account the full extent of the race's Town Building development branches, and assuming a Tax Rate of 2 Gold.
Note that all percentage Production bonuses are percentages of the base production of the town, and thus Dwarf and Klackon workers are more usefully affected by production bonuses than other workers. However, they have somewhat lower limits on possible workers due to lack of the Animists' Guild.
