|As of Master of Magic v1.31, Merging (Item Power) is known to be malfunctioning in at least one way. Please read the Known Bugs section below.|
"Merging" is an Item Power that was essentially removed from the game.
A magical rod or accessory enchanted with "Merging" is theorized to allow the bearer to merge with the ground and resurface anywhere on the battlefield.
As an Item Power it confers no benefits at all to Heroes.
Known Bugs Edit
Due either to game balance issues or the evident troubles implementing the ability itself, "Merging" was removed from the game by increasing its Spellbook Requirement to an impossible 22. Perhaps the ability would have required the unique merging animation to have been recreated for each hero and would have thrown off other game data offsets.
Items With Merging Edit
There are two pre-defined items with this power: The Great Wand and Tammas Staff of Negation. They'll never appear in Treasure, ever, because the wizard needs to possess an impossible number of Life Books for this to happen. This follows the trend that the ranks needed for finding an item with a Power and enchanting an item with that Power seldom match up. Just so, "Merging" requires 22 Nature Books to enchant through Create Artifact.
Moreover, not even the random Merchant petitioner will offer these two items. Merchants are treated as having 12 12 12 12 12, which means they could potentially sell you any of the 250 pre-defined items... except for these two.
