Klackon Halberdiers are a type of Normal Unit. This unit may be created at a Klackon town, for the Construction Cost of Icon Production.png 80. The town must already contain an Armory for this to be possible.

Like all Halberdiers, Klackon Halberdiers are a main-line defensive unit, capable of holding its own in a fight with other Normal Units, especially after gaining some Experience. Klackon Halberdiers, however, benefit from the Klackon racial bonus of Icon Defense.png +2, which puts their Defense score higher than almost any other Normal Unit. This allows them to stand up to other units quite well, and makes them very resistant to Ranged Attacks.

Klackon Halberdiers require an Upkeep Cost of Icon Gold.png 2 and Icon Food.png 1 to maintain. Failure to pay these costs will result in the unit being disbanded automatically.

Unit Properties Edit

Physical Description Edit

Klackon Halberdiers are a group of bipedal insect-like creatures. They have thick, dark-colored carapaces covering their bodies, forming a natural armor plating that is as strong as steel. Klackon Halberdiers carry halberds - long poles topped with large axe blades, used either for stabbing or for hacking at enemies while fending them off.

Klackon Halberdiers are a Icon MultiFigureUnit.png Multi-Figure unit, containing Icon Figure.png 6 figures when fully healed.

Attack Properties Edit

Each Klackon Halberdier makes a Melee Attack with a strength of Icon Melee Normal.png 4. With no additional bonuses, this delivers an average damage output of about Icon Damage.png 1.2, so with 6 Halberdiers attacking in unison there's a good chance that several hits will connect. This attack is dangerous to most enemy Normal Units, and can potentially wipe out a lightly-armored enemy.

With additional Icon Experience.png Experience, the Klackon Halberdiers' attack can become even more threatening, to the point where this unit can damage or kill enemy low-tier Fantastic Units quite well.

Defense Properties Edit

Thanks to their racial bonus, Klackon Halberdiers possess a Defense score of Icon Defense.png 5 - providing better protection than the steel plate armor used by some of the best Normal Units of other races! They can deflect about Icon Damage.png 1.5 points of Damage from any damage source, on average.

However, as with most Normal Units, each Klackon Halberdier possesses only Icon Hits.png 1 Hit Point. In other words, each point of Icon Damage.png Damage inflicted on this unit will kill off one of its Icon Figure.png figures.

As a result, low-strength units can find it very difficult to do any damage to the Klackon Halberdiers, but damage that does get through will still kill off some Halberdiers. Also, units with a powerful attack score can get through even this respectable armor. Most Ranged Attacks, especially when used at a distance, will struggle to hurt the Halberdiers at all.

For purposes of defending against Curses and other combat maledictions, the Klackon Spearmen have a rather-low Resistance score of Icon Resist.png 5 - barely enough to protect them from such effects.

Other Properties Edit

Klackon Halberdiers move at a slow Icon Movement Ground1, and can only traverse land tiles. The unit has no special movement properties.

Basic Strategy Edit

Halberdiers are a step up from main-line Swordsmen units. Though Klackon Halberdiers are twice as expensive as Klackon Swordsmen, they are both stronger and more durable in Melee combat. Thus, an empire that can afford to build Klackon Halberdiers will often fill its armies with them as fodder and defensive troops, possibly even replacing the Swordsmen entirely.

Klackon Halberdiers are often superior in combat to enemy low-tier Normal Units. Though Klackon Halberdiers are slightly more vulnerable to Ranged Attacks than Klackon Swordsmen, and will still suffer casualties in almost any fight, they deliver a good amount of damage to their opponents and can occasionally wipe an enemy unit out with one attack.

Klackon Halberdiers can band together with other Halberdiers or Swordsmen to take out a stronger enemy unit, up to and including low-tier Fantastic Units. Again, expect casualties among the ranks even if you do win the fight.

Ability Overview Edit

The Klackon Spearmen unit has no abilities listed in its unit details panel. It has to rely only on its primary combat properties during battle.

Experience Table Edit

The following table illustrates how Klackon Halberdiers improve as they gain Experience. Any properties that are not listed here do not improve with Experience in any way.

Average Damage Output Edit

The table below details the average amount of damage that each Icon Figure.png Figure in a Klackon Halberdiers unit will deliver with each type of attack, based on Icon Experience Level.png Experience Level. It can be used in comparison to the target's Defense rating to figure out the chance of hurting that target.

Acquisition Edit

Klackon Halberdiers may be produced in any Klackon Town.

A town must contain both an Armory to be able to produce Klackon Halberdiers. Should a town lose its Armory, it can no longer produce Klackon Halberdiers until a replacement structure is built.

The Construction Cost of this unit is Icon Production.png 80.

Klackon Halberdiers may appear for hire as Mercenaries. They may already have some Experience on being hired, and several units may be hired simultaneously. Hiring these units requires a certain cost in Icon Gold.png Gold that depends on many different factors. Klackon Halberdiers Mercenaries have the same Upkeep Cost as a normally-constructed unit.
